Live from San Diego

Bret Fisher, MD, on surgeon faculty for a live surgery and debate

San Diego, April 18ththAlcon Live Surgery Event– Bret Fisher, MD will be on the surgeon faculty for a live demonstration and discussion of the latest technologies and techniques to advance cataract surgery. Those in attendance will experience The ORA™ System with new VerifEye+™ Technology for the first time.

Bret Fisher, MD, has been invited to perform live surgery during the largest international yearly meeting of cataract and refractive surgeons. This surgery will be performed before a

live audience of five to ten thousand eye surgeons, by the largest manufacturer of eye surgery equipment and supplies in the world. This surgery is to help to demonstrate the newest technologies available in cataract surgery.   Alcons live surgery events during ASCRS are an important part of how they use technology, education, and partnership to advance cataract surgery. They enjoy engaging with the surgeons they serve and invite them to join in an interactive debate, featuring a panel of thought-leading surgeons discussing hot topics in cataract refractive surgery.

ORA™ with VerifEye+™ is the newest version of ORA™. The Eye Center of North Florida has been using ORA™ for several years, including the current version VerifEye™. Verifeye+™ represents further hardware and software upgrades that make the measurements of the eye during cataract surgery even faster and more accurate, and allows for increased ease of use for the surgery by moving much of the display into the ocular of the operating microscope, analogous to the “heads up” display in a modern fighter aircraft. This allows the surgeon to utilize the technology more effectively. In addition to ORA™ with VerifEye+™ the technologies being showcased are advanced intraocular lens implants (toric and multifocal), the LenSx™ femtosecond laser, and the Centurion Vision System for cataract surgery. Bret Fisher, MD, and the other participating surgeons, were privileged to be asked to participate in a clinical study to evaluate the new technology prior to its expected release this summer.
